A Zimmun at Grafenwöhr

Earlier this month, I received this great report from Chaplain Shlomo Shulman, who is currently stationed in Grafenwöhr, Germany.

Yesterday in the PX, I ran into a couple of senior Israeli officers attending a planning conference at Grafenwöhr. There are 27 of them altogether, but 5 of them keep kosher, so they’d been eating army rations in their hotel room all this time.
So today I served them up a kosher lunch right here in the chow hall… An Israeli-Arab soldier in my unit dropped by and mixed up a mean tehina from a recipe he learned from his cousin’s falafel restaurant in Haifa.
Nothing like bentching with a zimmun with IDF officers a few hundred yards away from the lookout tower where A.H (y”s) used to review his troops training before heading out to the front lines!
