Photo Contest Winners!

The results are in and here are the results for our First Annual Jews in Green Photo Contest (click on a photo to view it in the gallery):

1st Prize goes to CPT Elizabeth Levitt for her photo of her Channukah celebration in Iraq.

2nd Prize goes to 1LT Daniel Minkow for his photo of him and the base menorah on Travis AFB.

3rd Prize goes to SGT Anthony Popkin for his photo of himself participating in an inspection of a joint U.S. – Korean guard post along the DMZ.

An honorable mention goes to LTC Susan Meisner for her photo of Chaplain Howovitz with the last remaining (native) Jew in Afghanistan. Her photo was my top pick, but LTC Meisner was gracious enough to pass on the prize to other entries.

First prize will receive a $25 Amazon.com gift certificate and all award winners will receive a camouflage kippah.

While there are only 46 photos in the new Jews in Green Photo Gallery, there have been close to 4000 views of the photos! I consider this a huge success.

Just because the contest is over, doesn’t mean you should stop sending photos. The photo gallery is intended to be a constantly growing scrapbook of us Jews in uniform. So keep ’em coming!

First prize went to me so many years ago. I find myself in Afghanistan now and hope to have a similarly blessed Channukah! Thanks for keeping us in thoughts and prayers

    • Wow, time flies doesn’t it?

Best of luck on this tour too. Stay safe and may your Channukah be as joyous (or moreso) than the one spent in Iraq.

Let me know if you have any award winning photos this time around too…
