Jew vs Gentile?
I just wrote about the positive (or were they negative?) steps the Air Force has taken to combat the evangelical Christian atmosphere at the Air Force Academy. I still feel that the issues at the Academy are isolated and do not represent the overall atmosphere in the military today.
It seems that there are a number of people who disagree with me. Now there are two articles in the Washington Post about the “disharmony among chaplains”. Both involve ongoing investigations, so I won’t comment on them specifically, other than to recommend you take the stories with a grain of salt. There is far more to the incidents than what is presented in the articles.

- Jewish Chaplain Goes AWOL – Rabbi Jeffrey Goldman left Fort Stewart, Ga., in January 2002 to return to his native Canada after one year as a Jewish military chaplain. He said that he believes he resigned legally from the Army and that the desertion charge was a vindictive response to his allegations of there being a hostile environment for Jews.

Men and Women of all different faiths have suffered far more than Rabbi Goldstein claims to have suffered in the name of Religious freedom. We don’t need quitters like him in our military. Canada can keep him as far as I’m concerned.
The Air Force Academy’s problems are no suprise really. It’s another example of what happens when poor leadership forces decisions to be made by politicians 3000 miles away from the battle in air-conditioned offices.
At least in the Air Force, Officers are still allowed to date Enlistees!

I know the issue with Rabbi Goldman. The issue regarding the nazi guard uniforms he says he felt created a bad place to work was because he didn’t want to conduct a Yom Hashoah service. A christian chaplain had conducted several Yom Hashoah services in the past and would use historical artifacts in the program to show that it did happen and thus not part of revisionist history. Rabbi Goldman was a poor chaplain who could care less if people never knew about the Holocaust. When it came to serve and fight against the new fascists he turned and ran. Shame on him.
