Honoring Jewish Military Service

Recently two separate ceremonies, one in Massachusetts and another in North Carolina, honored local Jews who fought in WWII.

On Sunday, Rubin and fellow Jewish veterans of the war, almost all of them from Massachusetts, were honored at a religious service. No longer the youths who charged in battle, age demanding that some use canes and one lean on a friend’s supporting arm, about 30 men approached the altar and its 600-year-old ark as they were called by Rabbi Seth L. Bernstein.

In the words of Bob Zalkin, a Purple Heart recipient:

There was a kinship among the uniformed soldiers, he said, that extended beyond the boundaries of class, religion and culture. On Friday, he stood consoling another veteran, who had been brought to tears.

  • I am had serious issues with my chain of command in regards to discrimination based on my religious preference and it negatively effected my discharge from the military. I am looking for some help with this so that it will not negatively effect my future career path.
